How to find the IP address on laptops


Your IP (Internet Protocol) is a unique number assigned to your computer whenever you connect to the Internet. IP address consists of a series of numbers separated by periods. It is assigned an IP address by your Internet service, and can be used to determine the location in which your computer is connected to the Internet.
You can easily find the IP address of your laptop.

Windows XP and Vista laptops
Click the "Start" menu of Windows and click the "Play" button (for Windows XP users) or "Start Search" (for Vista users).

Type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the command prompt.


Type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and press "Enter." You should see the IP address in the middle of the road on the command prompt. It is a series of numbers that looks like 169,168,111.
